This term we have been focusing on Basketball, Netball and Badminton with all years. Year 3 have been developing throwing and catching by holding competitions in pairs against the class and using the giant target. Year 3 and 4 have been learning the basic rules of netball and playing mini games, in basketball they have been learning how to dribble and defend the ball in a game situation and in badminton pupils are able to have a rally with each other.  Year 5 and 6 have been playing games on the netball court and learning the official  rules of the game, enabling them to umpire games themselves. Pupils have been developing badminton skills by using the 4 different types of serve and using different types of shot.

We have started preparations for athletics season, focusing on running, jumping and throwing. Year 3 and 4 have completed an exciting obstacle course which challenged the distance and height we are able to jump over gymnastic frames. All years have been competing in sprinting and relay races, we have been assesing each others techniques and giving feedback to our peers and now we can all run to the best of our abilities. We can all throw javelins correctly and some of us can throw them as high as the gym roof!!!
