Local Democracy Week

We were pleased to be invited to a series of events that the local City Council held as part of their Local Democracy Week (LDW).  These events provided an ideal opportunity for children to learn about the local city council and have their say about decisions that affect their lives.

At Grove we are keen to educate children about local democracy and engage them in the key decisions the council makes which will help make Stoke-on-Trent a great working city and a great place to live.

During the event the City Council outlined what local democracy is all about, shared their vision for the city and asked children for their views on what is important to them. There was also a guided, interactive tour of the civic rooms to explain and demonstrate how local democracy works.

The views they gathered from children and young people during LDW events will influence their strategic planning and service delivery, helping to shape the future of Stoke-on-Trent.
