Cultural Inclusion

We are very fortunate at Grove to have so many different cultures within our school. In order to meet the needs of children who have no English or are new to the country, an induction process ensures a smooth transition and allows them to feel safe, welcome and settled, gaining a basic knowledge  of the English Language sooner rather than later.

The following sites will help you to learn more about British life, culture and religions and the English language.

Woodlands Junior School website has lots of resources and games and will help you to learn more about Britain. It has all sorts of information from fish and chips to the Royal Family.

The British Council website has lots of games, videos and activities to help you to learn and improve your English.

LearnEnglish Kids has lots of free online games, songs, stories and activities for children to have fun and learn English too.

You can become a member, make your own cool character and enter competitions. When you are a member you can comment across the site and answer questions in your turn to practise your reading and writing.

British customs and traditions are famous all over the world. Our British Life and Culture website will tell you some of the fascinating facts and information about our beautiful country, in a way that is easy to read and to understand. When people think of Britain they often think of people drinking tea, eating fish and chips and wearing bowler hats, but there is more to Britain than just those things.
