Executive Head Teacher's Welcome

A very warm welcome from myself as Acting Executive Head at Grove Junior School.  It is an absolute pleasure to work in such a hardworking, child centred school community.  Although I have very recently joined the school (September 2016) - I feel privileged to continue working with children who have attended the two infant feeder schools.  As Executive Head teacher of Hamilton Infants and Northwood Broom Community School I already know most of our Grove children and families extremely well.  I am proud to build on the work we have already done together.

Our ethos at Grove is that ‘Every child really does matter’ and we seek to find and celebrate every special trait your child has, whether sporting, creative or academic.  The school is built on firm foundations of respect for self & others and responsibility for actions.

Parents who have worked with me for some time know that I have high expectations and that I want the very best for every single child.  My own ethos is quite simple, every child deserves the best, so would I send my own child to this school? the answer… yes I would.

The teachers and support staff work extremely hard to deliver the highest standard of education and ensure children enjoy their learning.

Our school community reflects the rich cultural mix of the surrounding areas of Northwood, Birches Head and Hanley.  We have approximately 415 pupils on roll which makes us one of the largest junior schools in the country.

We work closely with our partner infant schools and one of our school priorities is to ensure transition from Y2 to Y3 is as easy as possible.

We pride ourselves in having an open door policy and parents are encouraged to participate in all of our activities.  The involvement of parents and community members is an important part in the development of both learning and in our cultural sharing and we aim to further develop this.
